Ironing

Nadine's finally recovered from her stomach flu, and is once again, her usual active self. Thank God!

Today, Mama saw Nadine imitating Bibi ironing with a mini board meant for ironing collars and sleeves. Nadine was "ironing" hankies. So Mama decided to go find a toy ironing set for her. And she found it in a neighhourhood shop!

Nadine loves her new ironing set! Actually, she loves to help Bibi with household chores. Wonder if that means she will actually help with housework in future!

Stomach flu

No sooner had Nadine recovered from her HFMD, she's down with stomach flu. Poor girl! Must have caught the bug in the park on Sunday. And Mummy thought it'd be good to bring her out for some fresh air! Sigh ....

She had fever for the last 2 nights, and diarrhoea. Hopefully, the diarrhoea will break tonight and her diarrhoea will stop too.

Nadine's 1st school progress report

Nadine's doing pretty well in school, scoring "Satisfied with progress" (S) for most things .... but 1 nerve-wrecking "Needs help" for "I am interested in Chinese stories"! Oh no!

And while she scores S for "I sing familiar songs and rhymes", her "I sing familiar Chinese songs" is an I. Sigh .....

Maybe we should buy her some Chinese DVDs/cartoons, or let her watch some of her cartoons in Mandarin! Hmm ......

2 x HFDM

The inevitable happened .... Aaron got infected by Nadine's HFMD virus. He had on-off fever for 2 days,  but thankfully, was not too cranky. Maintained his appetite for food, but not milk. Maybe sucking from a bottle is painful for him.

Poor second child. He's been sick so many times and seen the doctor much more in his 10 months than Nadine has in her 3 years!

Nadine seems much better already. But the spots on her hand still look a bit scary, so we have to quarantine her for a few more days. Although she's quite happy staying home, playing with her toys and watching her dvds, she's also been asking to go play downstairs, to go swimming, and to go to the shopping mall. It'll be tough leaving her home this weekend, when we go to church.  Sigh .....

Maybe we just keep buying her more plasters .....

HFMD

On Sunday, Nadine was very listless. Not her usual bubbly, active self. And she became feverish after we returned home from church. Bibi noticed she had a few spots on both feet. Alarm bells rang. 

She was grouch and moody, and woke up from her nap crying inconsolably, and refused to eat her lunch. Fell back asleep after she calmed down.

In the evening, more spots developed. So we brought her to Uncle Doctor Kevin, who confirmed that Nadine has HFMD. And she had more than 20 spots in her mouth! Poor baby! Must be so painful!

She asked for plasters on the various spots on her hands, to ease her pain (she thinks plaster are ko-yok)

And more angry spots on her hand ..... ouch! She refused to wash her hands today.

Despite the growing amount of spots, Nadine has remained cheerful most of the time. And her appetite came back today. Our little precious resilient girl. We're praying that she will recover quickly from this bout of HFMD!

Aaron - 10 months old

Weight - 8 kg

Aaron had not put on weight in a month, although he eats a lot. So Doctor Uncle Kevin suggested that we switch his formula to Pediasure. With a week of drinking Pediasure, Aaron put on half a kg!


Aside from the weight issue, he seems to be developing extremely well, especially in terms of his gross motor skills. And he's started to climb!

Mother's Day 2012

Mummy was away during Mother's Day, and only returned home late on Monday night, day after Mother's Day. Nadine came home from school on Tuesday and exclaimed to Mummy, "Mummy, I have something for you!" She then pulled out a card and hand-made flower for Mummy. So sweet!

Credit goes to her teachers in LSK for helping her to make these, especially since Nadine missed school on the Friday and Monday before and after Mother's Day (sick on Monday and on Friday, Daddy had an early morning meeting and couldn't send Nadine to school, therefore gave her a day off).

Nadine is full of imagination. Today, she decided that she'd build a house, using 2 chairs and Mummy's sarong sling.

And she filled her house with a pillow, books, cups, Aaron's stuffed taxi, and Doctor Evil Pork Chop.

Daddy and Mummy are really proud of her sense of imagination. Not only does that mean we save money by not having to buy her lots of toys, it also means Nadine can think out of the box and is good at improvising. We hope this wonderful trait will help her to excel in life!

Zia's pirate-themed birthday party

Zia celebrated his 4th birthday with an amazing pirate-themed birthday party last Saturday. He has an amazing father who would go to great lengths to organize the most elaborate parties for his children.

The party started with pool games for the fathers and kids. They had to look for marbles and rings in the pool, fathers had to be blindfolded before going round to look for their kids, and ...

the finale - the fathers had to blow up a huge float and row to the other side of the pool with their kids.
