Playdate - Bowling

Nadine had a great day of fun bowling (trying to), running, screaming and playing with her friends. It was total chaos for the 4 mummies who brought the kids out. Despite that, Aunty Lydia managed to take some really good shots of the kids bowling - http://joyfulplaces.livejournal.com/159694.html

Mummy was trying to teach the girls how to bowl, or rather, how to push the ball. So didn't manage to get any good shots. Only shots like this one, of Nadine watching her ball go down the gutter.

Aaron - 1 month old

Aaron turned 1-month yesterday. Like Cheh-Cheh, he did not have a full-month celebration. But on this auspicious day, he went to church for the first time, dressed smartly in clothes that are too big for him. He was so small at birth that all his clothes are too big for him, and had only 4 rompers that fit better. 1 month on, he's now about 4 kg, and the rompers are fitting. How fast he grew!

Cakes that Daddy and Mummy ordered for colleagues and neighbour. Order was made online, and the cakes were delivered to our house. Very efficient! And everybody was impressed by the packaging.

Bye Bye Jaundice!!!

Aaron's jaundice finally gone down below the 100 mark! It's 65 today, and he can finally be 'discharged'! No more annoying trips to the polyclinic to get pricked!

Performer Wannabe

Nadine went to church with Daddy today, and was obviously very inspired by the worship leader.

This evening, she climbed up onto Ma-Ma's bedside table with her mic, and said, "Good morning church!" She then told Bibi to stand up, and started belting out Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Unfortunately, Daddy, in his excitement, forgot that videos must be taken in landscape format ....

Nadine - 31 months old

At 31 months old, Nadine is able to move around in the water confidently - with her float. She can swim forward, backward and spin around. She's so confident that she swam her way to the deep end of the pool today - 2.5m - without Daddy. Should start her on proper swimming classes soon!

Growth Spurt

Mummy was going to start Aaron on his PDF (Parent-directed feeding) training the day he turned 2-week-old. But, his jaundice level went up again, and therefore needed to be fed more. Plus, he had his first growth spurt. So training had to be postponed.

Initially, Mummy thought Aaron was just using her as a pacifier. So gave him breastmilk in a bottle. He gulped down the milk. Gave him formula - he drank up 60 ml of it. And 1 hour later, was hungry again. And he was more fussy than usual. So, had to be growth spurt.

And for a while, Daddy and Mummy thought Nadine was going through a growth spurt too, coz she ate soooooo much. But the growth spurt was never-ending. Nadine continues to eat a lot every day. So much so that Daddy's really worried she'll become a fatty-fatty-bom-bom.

The good thing is, Nadine's not eating junk, aside from biscuits and a bit of gummy bears. Her snacks include bread, 馒头, milk, and loads of fruits. Mummy consciously keeps candies, chocolates and ice-cream away from her, except on special occasions or when we're out. Hopefully her healthy eating habits will continue for a long time more, and she'll never become a fatty-fatty-bom-bom!

Aaron - 2 weeks old

Aaron is 2 weeks old!

Compared to Nadine, Aaron is more mild-tempered. Even when he's wailing for milk, his wails are much gentler and softer. And he can be left alone in the cot for a long time.

He's put on about 1 kg - he's now 3.5 kg, and has stopped marathoning for milk all night long. He now clocks in about 3-4 hours of sleep at a stretch at night, meaning he only wakes up once at night, after his last feed at 12ish.

In the day, he can sometimes sleep for 3-4 hours at a stretch too. Mummy sometimes has to wake him up to feed, especially last week, when his jaundice level was high. But that's come down to 202 on Monday, and hopefully, when we go back for the next blood test on Friday, the jaundice will drop to a level that's insignificant and will not require him to go back to the clinic for pricking any more!

Doting Sister

Jie-Jie loves to take photos with Di-Di, and continues to be amused by him. She also tries and imitate his jerky hand and leg movements. Most of the time, she's mindful that she needs to be gentle with him, but there have been several occasions when she slaps him too hard, and almost fall on him. She definitely cannot be left alone with him.

Aaron - the first week

Aaron spent the first 3 nights home crying and feeding and totally depriving Mummy of any sleep. Thankfully, 4th night onwards, he started to sleep longer stretches, about 3-4 hours each time. It could be him settling into a routine (which is actually a bit too early), or his high jaundice level.

His jaundice level had gone from 230s to 268 on Tuesday. The polyclinic doctor was very unsure whether to send Aaron back to the hospital or not. So Daddy and Mummy decided that they better go back to KK to get better expert opinion. And doctor at KK children's emergency said jaundice admission is for 300 and above only. Tsk ... what a waste of time! But at least now we know for sure when to admit him.

The jaundice level only came down slightly on Friday. Hopefully, it'll drop to below 200 by Monday!

But aside from the jaundice, and the first few nights of non-stop crying and feeding, Aaron's been a pretty good, happy baby.

Jie-Jie Nadine

Nadine has assumed her role as Jie-Jie pretty well. Whenever she hears Di-Di crying, she'll run into the room, and try and comfort him. She'll go, "sshhh .... sshhh ..... don't cry, it's ok, it's ok ..." Very cute.

Jie-Jie now also knows that we're no longer just Daddy, Mummy and Dine-Dine. We have Di-Di as well. The other day, Mummy bought a box of cupcakes for her. There were 5 cupcakes in the box. She had 2 for breakfast the next day. When Bibi asked her if she wanted anymore, she replied, "no, this for Daddy, this for Mummy, and this for Di-Di!"

But she has her jealous and attention-seeking moments too. She wants Mummy to carry her, sit with her, read to her and pet her to sleep all the time. Mummy tries to spend as much time with her as possible, except for carrying and showering her. The other day, she came to Mummy with puppy eyes, and said, "Mummy shower me please". Broke Mummy's heart. She must have thought pretty long about the sentence, and constructed it properly in her mind first, because she usually says "you" and when she means "me", and doesn't always say "please". Mummy just have to try and spend time with her in other ways.
