For weeks after Daddy bought the Ice Age 3 DVD, Nadine refused to watch it, claiming that she's scared of the dinosaurs. Then somehow, Daddy managed to convince her to watch it. And it became her favourite DVD, and now, she loves dinosaurs! That makes Daddy really happy coz he used to like dinosaurs. So he's been teaching Nadine all the different dinosaur names, and is delighted that Nadine is picking up those tongue-twisting names so quickly.

Aaron's 2nd sign
Besides 'please', Aaron can sign 'more'. He signs that whenever Mummy is feeding him some food, and he wants more. Very useful signs he's starting with! So proud of you, Aaron!

Aaron's 1st sign
Aaron signed 'please' for the first time on Sunday. His version of the sign is to beat his chest. A bit of a caveman. But Daddy and Mummy are thrilled that he's finally started to sign. And believe that from now, he'll start signing other words too!

School portrait
Nadine took her first-ever school portrait this year. The photo turned out really nice, she looked really happy. Wonder how the photographer managed that!
Mummy was initially worried that Nadine would show her pseudo-squint in the school portrait, as it seemed to show more frequently these days. Daddy thinks that it's more lazy eye now. Perhaps we need to bring her back to the eye specialist again.

Sep Holiday Day 4: Night Safari
We went to the Night Safari on Thursday night. It was the kids' first time. We were initially worried that they may be scared because it was dark. But turned out that they both enjoyed themselves.
We took the tram that took us up close to so many animals. Nadine was thrilled to see the hippo and the fishing cat, and kept saying she liked them. She also liked the baby barking deer that was climbing on its Mummy. She said its like her coz she likes to climb on Daddy and Mummy too.
Aaron was just taking in all the sights. We had expected him to doze off at some point, coz we were there till way past his bedtime. But he stayed alert throughout, and was even more awake than Nadine on the way home.

It was too dark to take photos in the Safari, especially since we were not supposed to use flash. So for memory's sake, we took some outside.
Nadine loved this Kai Kai and Jia Jia photo-taking booth, and the huge bear paw flyer that the Night Safari was giving away.
This is a departing shot. Nadine was totally bushed. But she still managed to muster enough energy to ask for 2 bear paw flyers from the reception counter, so that she can 'play tennis with Bibi' - she wanted to use the flyer as a tennis racket.

Sep Holiday - Day 2: Play Doh and Baking Class
Daddy took leave today to bring Nadine for play doh and baking class at Brillionaire Kids Nex.
She first had 1 hour of play doh class, in which she made a rabbit, a mouse, a carrot, and a caterpillar.
Then she baked donut cookies.
She was very serious about her work, and really enjoyed herself. Hmm .... wonder if she's really interested in baking, or if it's just a passing faze. She's been watching all kinds of baking videos on Youtube, and loves cake decoration books.
Sep Holiday - Day 1: Baking
1st day of school holiday.
Mummy: It's school holiday this week! You don't have to go to school!
Nadine: I want to go for holiday. But there's no beach. Only swimming pool. I must pack my swimming costume.
Mummy: Erm .... school holiday means you don't have to go to school. Doesn't mean we're going anywhere for holiday.
Nadine: But teacher say we're going for holiday!
Mummy: Ok ..... what are you going to do today?
Nadine: Erm .... learn swimming.
Mummy: Really? Who's teaching you?
Nadine: Mrs Chiam (her pre-N teacher)
Mummy: Are you sure? But you're not seeing her today!
Nadine: Yes! Teacher say we're going for holiday!
The 3-year-old has only 1 concept of holiday.
Anyway, Bibi occupied Nadine today by baking cookies with her.
We don't have any molds at home. Bibi ingeniously used Nadine's toys to cut different shapes for the cookies. And Nadine dedicated the following cookies to Uncle Mel, Aunty Wendy, Marcus, Gerald and Ethan, in that order.
She also made these heart-shaped cookies for Daddy and Mummy.

Club Med Bintan
We went to Club Med Bintan over the Hari Raya Puasa long weekend, with our usual travel khakis - the Gans. We've heard so much about Club Med, and so, were really looking forward to this holiday.
The 2 older Gan boys were old enough to join the Kids Club, and so they willingly and happily joined the club. Ethan, while sending off his brothers, was inspired to join the Petite Club. So his parents happily signed him up for it, and had a whole lot of wonderful couple time during this holiday.
Not so easy for us. Aaron was definitely too young for any clubs. And Nadine was super sticky to Mummy. They're also too young for any snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing, etc, etc. But not too young for the beach. They loved the beach. It was Aaron's first time on the beach, first time touching sand, and first time eating sand. He loved it!
Aaron had a great time crawling all over.
Nadine had a lot of fun burying Aunty Wendy. Aaron was just amused by Aunty Wendy's wriggly toes.
2nd day, we decided to try putting Nadine in the Petite Club, since Ethan seemed to have enjoyed himself so much the previous day. The main attraction for Nadine was the play doh session. After dropping her off, we were finally able to sit down for a good breakfast and chit-chat session with Uncle Mel and Aunty Wendy.
But, we made the mistake of checking on the kids. The moment Nadine saw Mummy, she burst into tears. As if she was having such a terrible time, which Mummy was sure wasn't the case. So we walked back to the Petite Club pool with them.
The kids were totally engrossed in the water games after a while, so we quickly sneaked off. But 1 minute after we left the pool, we could hear Nadine crying. We ran off, anyway, believing, out of sight, out of mind. Apparently she did enjoy herself the rest of the afternoon. But that night, lying next to Mummy, she said, "I don't want to go to Petite Club," and started sobbing. And for the next 2 weeks after the holiday, she'd say that again and again. Why? Did she have some traumatic experience? Hmm .....
As for Aaron, we engaged a babysitter for an afternoon so that we could go for a massage! He seemed pretty ok too, when we went back to pick him, crawling around, and playing with the toys. But the moment he saw Daddy, he burst into tears too, and hugged Daddy very tightly when Daddy carried him. Separation anxiety?
To make up, we brought them to the beach again.
During this trip, we discovered that Nadine really likes Marcus! A few times, she'd walk up to Marcus and hold his hand! Poor Marcus was so shy, and didn't help that his Mum and big brother laughed at him. He actually became really furious with them!
Wonder how long this puppy love will last!
Overall, it was an ok holiday. Slow and relaxed, as we'd wanted it. But Club Med was quite a disappointment. The housekeeping and restaurant service were really shoddy. Food was not great too. Maybe if we'd participated in a lot of the activities, we wouldn't had cared so much about the services. Ah well. Now we know.

Aaron - 12 1/2 months
Since last week, Aaron has been walking more, holding on to wall, furniture and people for support. But his prepared mode of movement is still crawling. And he's one speedy gonzales when he crawls! Daddy calls him a lizard.
Aaron now responds well to questions and requests too. Mummy can tell him to go drink some water, and he'll crawl to his water-bottle and start drinking. We've also asked him to pass certain toys to us, and he's able to do that too.
Like Jie-Jie, Aaron's very noisy. Says a lot of mamamamamama, papapapapa, dadadadadadada, and makes plenty of other sounds. Just waiting for him to sprout his first words!
