Okinawa - November 2019: Day 4

We started the day by visiting the Nakijin Castle Ruins - which really is more a scenic stop. There's no castle any more, but has a nice viewing point.

From there, we went to along the coastal road, on our way to Churaumi Aquarium. We stopped at Blue Cafe for lunch first. It was cafe in an interesting caravan hotel. Didn't take any photos of the caravans, but did take a walk with Aaron to the beach. It was cold and windy, but the ocean view was excellent.

After lunch, it was off to the Churaumi Aquarium, widely considered as the best aquarium in Japan. We agree!

It is located within the Ocean Expo Park, a huge park. It has a massive Kuroshio Tank, one of the largest in the world. The tank takes its name from the warm Kuroshio current which plays a large part in the variety of Okinawa's of marine life. The tank contains a wide variety of species, the most striking of which are the giant whale sharks and manta rays.

We were totally mesmerized by all the fishes swimming so gracefully in the tank that we sat down and watched for almost half an hour!

There was also a huge Manatee pool, with a few fat manatees. We watched them feed. They used their fins to feed themselves, like they were hands! So cute!

We wanted to walk around the park after the aquarium, but it started to drizzle, and we were so tired. So we went into the car, snoozed for half an hour, while waiting for restaurants to open for dinner at 6pm.

We had yakiniku at Motobu Bokujo, which had excellent beef and black pork. Aaron enjoyed the pork more than the beef, and kept asking for pork for the rest of the trip!

After dinner, it was an early night back to our cabin. We had hoped for a clear sky so that we can look at some stars from the telescope, but it was not to be. Nonetheless, we enjoyed just chilling in the cabin for the night.
