End of Nursery ... almost

Nadine's almost coming to the end of her Nursery year. In the last few months, she has been one happy kid who loves school. While she can't tell me exactly what she learns in school - her answer to my "what did you learn today" is usually "I can't remember" - I know that she's picking up lots of knowledge, that she'll share whenever the right opportunities arise.

For eg., we were talking about fish the other day, and she said, "cannot eat shark, because there are very few of them and if we eat some more, there will be no more shark!" This term, they are learning about sea creatures!

Another eg., Bibi was hand-washing some clothes the other day, and tap was running. Nadine went to her and said, "Bibi, you're not saving the world!" Her kindergarten is very environmental-conscious and the kids bring things to throw into the recycling bins every day. Nadine is constantly on the look-out for things that she can bring to school to recycle.

And while she can't answer my question on what she learnt, she's able to describe certain things that she did in school. She came home one day, and told me that they'd played dress-up in school that day, because Mrs Elsie Tan (her principal) needed help. She then went on to describe what everyone who particpated dressed up as - she was the "airplane lady", Vera was a doctor, Luanne was an animal doctor, Gladys was a pilot, and Caitlin was a baker.

The next day, Lydia sent me this photo!

We've not sent Nadine to any enrichment classes, other than swimming. For one, I'm lazy. But both Daddy and I also think that she has all her life to study and go for classes. She better play more now, before she joins the rat race! We hope we're not putting her at a disadvantage!
