This semester, Nadine and her classmates had to learn how to take care of a stick insect - part of teaching them how to care for others. They had to clean up the insect's tank and feed it. And the teachers documented the process by taking photos of the kids doing these things, and producing a beautiful glossy book, featuring the class of children doing different things with and for the stick insect.
This is one photo that a teacher took and sent to me. I'm surprised she's not girly about it!
I wonder why the school chose to use a stick insect, and not something cute and furry, like a hamster, and maybe a fish. Maybe because they are more hardy, and easier to maintain! Nonetheless, I think it definitely was a good object lesson!
