花莲
Weather was gorgeous and scenery was beautiful!
We went to 鲡鱼潭 for boating. Very touristy, but was fun and relaxing .... in fact, a bit too relaxing, that the adults started to doze off ....
Then Tim brought us to a stream where locals go to play and swim. The water was nice and clear, and the kids had fun learning stone skipping, and trying to catch shrimps.
After days of huge, sumptuous, multi-course 大鱼大肉 meals, we wanted something simple. So Tim brought us to a small local Szechuan place for noodles and dumplings. Simple but satisfying.
After lunch, we went to 新光兆丰休闲农场, a range, zoo, resort place.
It was a huge place, so the Gan boys chose to cycle, instead of walk. Aaron wanted to cycle too, but he's yet to master the 2-wheels. So Daddy chose the following :
The ranch had a decent variety of animals, some we'd never seen in other zoos before, like this sulcata tortoise.
Never seen so many rabbits together, and so many rabbit holes!
Daddy was so pleased to catch this frontal shot of the camel!
And there were so many raccoons!
There are 2 must-haves whenever we're on holidays - good local food, and McDonald's. We make it a point to eat McDonald's at every country we go to, because they somehow taste a bit different, and also most countries would have something local on their menu. More importantly, the kids would always ask for McDonald's after a few days.
After the kids had their fill, it was the adults' turn to look for dinner - at the 花莲东大门夜市.
But we were first stuck at the shooting stall for a looooong time ...
Before we could find proper dinner, we had some dogs. Were expecting "hot dog", but they were disappointly cold.
And we saw this young girl performing on the drums. She was good! Apparently she performs there all the time. Very talented girl.
After we watched her perform 1 song, it started to drizzle ..... and rain.
We sat down for dinner while waiting for the rain to stop. It was cold and wet ... not a very fun night at the 夜市.
