A new family dentist

Nadine went back to Q&M weeks ago to fill up her cavities. It took more than an hour for Dr Clement to fill up 1 cavity. She was petrified, and didn't help that he spent so much time trying to explain the process to her. I think that actually made it worse.

This photo was taken at the beginning of the session, when she was still quite cooperative, and amused by the camera. After that, I had to sit on the dentist chair and hold her down.

I was exhausted and frustrated at the end of the session. And nearly fell off the chair when showed the bill - $200! For 1 filling! And she has 4 more cavities to fill! Very tempted to find another dentist, but not sure if that'd mean starting a whole new process of getting Nadine to be familiar with a new dentist.

A few later, Nadine accidentally fell on Aaron while he was bending down to pick up a toy. He knocked his mouth, and one of his front teeth got pushed out a bit. He kept complaining about the pain the whole day. So that night, we brought him to a dentist at Kovan, one whom I'd made an appointment for a routine check for myself.

Dr Somu was very gentle, and was able to make Aaron open his mouth for him to check the protruded tooth, as well as the rest of his teeth. Told us it was ok, and not necessary to force-push it back, as that'd be too traumatic for Aaron. Both kids were happy in the clinic.

I went back to Dr Somu for my own scaling and polishing the next day, and thought he did a very fast and thorough job. So decided to bring Nadine to him as well. Forget about Q&M! It was an excellent decision!

In 15 min, Dr Somu filled up 2 of Nadine's cavities. He was quick yet gentle, kept calming Nadine and assuring her. No struggles nor crying at all! And even better - $100 for 2 fillings! No rubbish consultation/consumerables charges. We saved money, time (coz he's so fast and the clinic is so near our house) and tear!

So now we have a new-found favorite family dentist - King's Dental Surgey at Kovan! Highly recommend Dr Somu to any adults and/or children!

After the treatment, I rewarded Nadine by buying her a sheet of colourful crystal sticker. When we got home, Nadine promptly pasted the crystals on her fingers, and made a ring, necklace and earrings out of them!
