Korea - Dec 2013: 2nd day in Jeju

2nd day in Jeju, we started with a hike up a gentle hill to see the Sangumburi Crater. Against the cold wind, it was quite a tiring walk, especially for Daddy, who had to carry Aaron. But the magnificent view was well-worth it!

After that, we went horse-riding. Or rather, the Gans went horse-riding.

Nadine had initially wanted to ride the horse, and was all dressed up for it ...

But the moment she walked near the horses, she backed out, coz "the horses are stinky!" What a princess!

Daddy had initially wanted to take Aaron on a short ride with him. But found that the saddle was too small, and it would have been quite dangerous to have Aaron sit in front of him. So Daddy ended up going on a short 5-min boring ride alone, while the Gan family rode into the woods.

Love this photo of Nadine helping Aaron with his hat

Didn't get to ride, but can still get the cowboy look!

The Gans, happy after their ride

The horse-riding facility had a go-kart track too. We had a wild time racing. Uncle Mel went crazy speeding, and had to be told several times to slow down.

After that was lunch - yummy super-fresh seafood hotpot lunch, with live abalones!

Here's a photo that Nadine took of us, outside the hotpot restaurant. Really impressed by her framing!

After lunch, we went to the Seongeup Folk Village, a showcase traditional village, where people still live in. The only photo I took (only thing that interested me) was this traditional water filter, which was used to filter rain water into potable water!

It was tangerine picking after that. Jeju is supposed to produce the best tangerines in Korea, and everywhere we drive, we'd see tangerine orchards, and shops/stalls selling tangerines.

The kids had a lot of fun plucking tangerines, though we were each allowed to pluck only 2 tangerines.

Aaron, who didn't know how to pluck tangerines, had fun running round the orchard, which he called a jungle!

And this is still not the end of our day! Next on our itinerary, we went to see the Seongsan Sunrise Peak.

And then ..... yes, there's more! Special request from us - tour guide brought us to the newly-opened Hanwha Aqua Planet, supposed to be the largest aquarium in Asia.

By then, the 2 youngest kids were dead-beat. Both slept through most of the tour. Here are our 2 poor daddies, who had to carry their sons for more than an hour!

The aquarium is very similar to Singapore's SEA Aquarium, just bigger.

At the end of this very loooooog day, we were all bushed. But we saw so much, and agreed that if we had not hired our own tour guide, we wouldn't have been able to cover so much. And again, was wonderful to be able to hop on and off a bus and just rest. So glad with our decision!
